Technical difficulty moderate $275 Adult & $265 Youth
Granary Canyon is the premier Moab canyoneering route. Six rappels drop into one of Moab's most beautiful red rock canyons. This adventure is beginner friendly for those up to a challenge.
We begin the 2000 foot descent and six mile hike cross-country along a slick-rock ridge. Dramatic canyon views present themselves as the ridge narrows to a scramble.
Our first roped descent is 75 feet into Granary Canyon. We'll spend some time at the top of the drop going over gear before you're clipped in and on rappel. If it's your first time you will be amazed as you gently descend the rope into the canyon.
Next is The Snail, a 65 foot free hanging drop behind a pothole, and then a 40 foot drop known as The Onion into the heart of Granary. It's a short romp down canyon to a natural bridge and a 40 foot rappel called the Tea Garden.
You are rewarded for your technical rope skills with an amazing wilderness hike. Canyon obstacles continue rapid-fire. We traverse an impossible looking pothole and use a little team work as we climb and scramble.
Eventually the canyon ends at an impressive cliff overlooking the Colorado River. Our final rappel is 200 feet into the vertical world. We finish the day by visiting an archeological site, a 1200 year old granary, on the trail to the vehicle.
