Extreme Heat
It's a desert out there. Here are couple of tips before heading into the back-country.
- Drink at least 1 gallon of water each day
- Carry at least 2 liters of water on all activities
- Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing & a wide-brimmed hat
- Apply sunscreen liberally to all exposed skin
- Avoid diuretics (coffee soda and alcohol)
- Eat salty foods and replace those electrolytes
- Take frequent shade breaks
- Consider a river trip or air conditioned backcountry 4X4 tour
- Save strenuous activity for early mornings or evenings
