Rafting the Colorado River in Westwater Canyon offers a great combination of stunning western scenery, and adventurous whitewater. Westwater Canyon rafting trips rank high among our guests and boatmen alike. Outstanding Class III/IV rapids with names like Marble Canyon, Sock-It-To-Me, Funnel Falls, and the formidable Skull Rapid are excellent by any standard. This 17 mile river section is Utah rafting at its best.
A trip through Westwater Canyon is a trip through Earth’s history. The most ancient rock on our planet is displayed deep within this canyon. Twenty-five million years ago, a great fault was reactivated and uplifted along the present day Rocky Mountains. Two billion year old Precambrian basement rock was elevated as the Colorado River began cutting Westwater Canyon. The highly resistant metamorphic rocks of the canyon constricted the channel of the river creating superb whitewater and a canyon so memorable it has been proposed for a wild and scenic river designation. Westwater rafting is sure to provide a one-of-a-kind experience.
