Class IV to Class V $595 Adult & $525 Youth
Raft the Colorado River through Cataract Canyon aboard the most exciting craft in river running, the whitewater RHIB (rigid hull inflatable boat). Spend two days and one night in the pristine wilderness of Canyonlands National Park. You will enjoy all that makes Cataract Canyon famous: great rapids, exploration of side canyons, hikes to prehistoric ruins and a camp-out under a canopy of stars.
Our first day takes us through calm water meandering along the Colorado River. We spend the day floating beneath towering canyon walls, and hiking to waterfalls or epic vistas. Be assured that by lunch you will be keeping time by the river. Late afternoons are great for relaxing in the shade of the boats bimini and watching the geologic formations pass you by in the warm desert air.
Along the banks the Colorado River we make a simple and comfortable camp. Guides explain our minimum impact camping etiquette. A western style meal is prepared from fresh ingredients with the culinary expertise of a campfire cook. We fall asleep under the darkest skies, to the sounds of the river.
A hot cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast gets day two under way. Let’s run some whitewater! Thirty rapids, ranging in difficulty up to class V, roll through the canyon. Legendary rapids like the Big Drops, Mile Long, and Hell-to-Pay challenge river runners. The whitewater RHIB is unmatched in stability and excitement as we shoot the whitewater. This unique craft is a NAVTEC Expeditions exclusive. We’ll surf a wave here and there and play about in the currents and eddies, something only a RHIB is capable of.
Cataract Canyon has some of the biggest whitewater in the United States during the spring run-off in May and June. If you want wild rapids, that's the time to go. After July the water level drops, producing smaller but still thrilling whitwater.
We finish the rapids and head for Hite Marina on Lake Powell with time to reflect on the beauty and excitement of the trip. You then have three options; return to Moab by ground transportation, a 45 minute scenic flight, or have your personal vehicle shuttled to Hite for your arrival. Prices and timetables for the return options are listed below.
