EXTREME HEAT

It's a desert out there. Here are couple of tips before heading into the back-country.

  • Drink at least 1 gallon of water each day
  • Carry at least 2 liters of water on all activities
  • Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing & a wide-brimmed hat
  • Apply sunscreen liberally to all exposed skin
  • Avoid diuretics (coffee soda and alcohol)
  • Eat salty foods and replace those electrolytes
  • Take frequent shade breaks
  • Consider a river trip or air conditioned backcountry 4X4 tour
  • Save strenuous activity for early mornings or evenings
