Trip Details

DURATION: 9 hours

We’ll start our adventure off by using a historic 4x4 trail that leads us into the back door of the national park. Along the way, we’ll stop and take a glimpse deep into the past and view some real dinosaur tracks! After entering the park, we’ll stop off for a quick restroom break and an incredible view of the famous Balanced Rock with the Windows and La Sal Mountains as the backdrop.

From there, we’ll utilize the park’s main road to access our next backcountry route. 

Once there, we’ll see the iconic Tower Arch and Parallel Arches with an optional hike that’s a moderate quarter mile. We'll continue our journey and pass by the Marching Men Towers and enjoy the thrilling 4x4 route that winds through the scenic backcountry.

Our next destination is Eye of the Whale Arch, with an easy quarter mile walk to it. This arch is one of the few “tunnel style” arches in the park which makes it extra special! After our backcountry loop, we’ll exit the park via the main entrance. 

Mid-day, you’ll get to relax and take in the view or explore while your guide provides a full picnic lunch.  

After lunch, it’s off to Canyonlands! At one of our first stops, we will admire and learn about ancient petroglyphs—remarkable art left by past cultures, etched into the canyon walls. On the trail, you will experience the blue "potash" salt ponds, the famous Thelma and Louise Point, the stunning Gooseneck Overlook of the Colorado River, Musselman Arch and deep views of the canyons below and above! We finish the tour by climbing the famous Shafer Trail switchbacks to the top of the Island in the Sky mesa.
