Trip Notes:
Rafting Cataract Canyon.
"Big Drops"
On this trip you can immerse yourself in a wilderness river experience. Travel in oar-powered silence through towering canyons and ride the rapids named by pioneer river runners who first ventured through Cataract Canyon more than 100 years ago.

The whitewater is most challenging during May and June when Rocky Mountain snowmelt feeds into the river and lifts its water level. After July the Colorado River's level drops and the rapids are smaller but still exciting.

Colorado River.
Riverside camp
Your boatman expertly negotiates the rapids while you concentrate on enjoying the whitewater thrill. (Paddle rafts allow more active participation and are available on certain trips.)

We camp on sandy beaches and enjoy hearty western-style dutch oven cooking. The mood is peaceful under clear starlit skies.

Cataract Canyon
Cataract Canyon
This trip gives you time to explore side canyons on foot, observe wildlife, see ancient Indian ruins and take in the geologic history of the layered rock in Cataract Canyon.

We leave the water at Lake Powell's Hite Marina. You then have three options -- return to Moab by ground transportation or scenic flight. A third option is to have your vehicle shuttled to Hite to meet you.

Prices and timetables for the different return options are listed below.

Many of our guest continue their trip by joining our 3 Day Needles Expeditions by 4WD at the end of the river trip. We'll fly you from Hite to an airstrip near the Needles section of Canyonlands where you'll meet our jeeps and guides. If you are interested in adding this option please call our office.

Please read the reservation and cancellation information at the bottom of this page.
